On August 7th, 2012, Nancy Bacal confirmed for me via email that this 1966 recording was indeed her interview from 1966 which she had arranged for the CBC. Also, the fact that the programme was developed in England lends itself to this theory. It is probable that a first generation tape copy of the CBC interview had been transferred to disc by the Pink Floyd's management in late 1966 and that this disc was used for the Capital Radio broadcast in 1976 as it clearly sounds like a slightly scratchy audio disc is being played. This British radio show was produced by Nicky Horne and was recorded to cassette by many fans of Pink Floyd such that the 1966 CBC interview was thereafter included on many Pink Floyd bootleg albums starting in the late 1970s. The CBC interview from December 1966 lay dormant for 9 years until it was used for a Capital Radio, London, England radio special called "The Pink Floyd Story - The Early Years" which was broadcast in several parts commencing in December 1976 through January 1977. That book is highly recommended for further details on the early Pink Floyd shows from the 1966 period. The story of how Nancy Bacal, a freelance Canadian journalist living in London, got connected with Peter Jenner and The Pink Floyd in late 1966 is told in splendid detail on pages 148 through 150 in the highly recommended book "Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd: Dark Globe" by Julian Palacios (Plexus Publishing, 2010). The interview also includes an early version of "Interstellar Overdrive" which may possibly have been recorded earlier at an Oxfam Benefit Concert at The Albert Hall in London (Dec. The interview was probably aired in late 1966 or very early in 1967. The interview was used as part of the weekly one hour CBC Radio program "The Action Set" which appeared on Saturday mornings across Canada. The interview was recorded as part of a series on the new concepts in sounds in popular music.
